spring activities on north lake tahoe

Sure, winter might be the main draw for the thousands of visitors who come to North Lake Tahoe every year. And sure, spring might come a bit later to the rugged, picturesque mountains around the lake, but that doesn’t mean there is a shortage of exciting events and activities to fill your lengthening days as the ski season comes to a close. There is no better way to explore all the new season has to offer than from your world-class lodgings here at Tahoe Signature Properties, so check out some of the fun events happening this spring!

Par For the Slope

Nothing is more Lake Tahoe than the 35th annual Snow Golf Tournament at Squaw Valley April 21 from 9am to noon. Golfers and skiers alike will revel in the thrill of playing this 9-hole course that begins at the top of the Summit Express Chair. Grip your “club” (a tennis racket, provided) and let it rip as you battle the course as it winds down the mountain to the final “white” (no greens here!). Free to register, the event is fun for all ages and features a costume contest and raffle prizes.

We’re Gonna’ Need a Bigger Slope

What do you get when you combine downhill skis with water skiing? Why, the amazing spectacle and follies of Cushing Crossing! An end of season tradition, this event pits 50 competitors in multiple categories to see who the best is at turning their downhill run into some good old-fashioned pond skimming. Your mode of transport? That is up to you. Celebrity judges, fabulous prizes, and a good time await competitors and spectators alike (April 14 @1pm, Squaw Valley; free to watch, $20 entry fee).

Music and Brews

The North Lake Tahoe area is home to great music venues and outdoor festivals, but they don’t wait for the snow to melt to kick things off. The fun begins April 6-8 with the WinterWonderGrass Music and Brew Festival. Sip on the best microbrews and feel the raw enthusiasm and energy of some of today’s hottest artists and bands, all in the comfort of heated festival tents. Three stages feature live music from 2-5pm daily. The event is family friendly and full details including lineups, brewers, and tickets are available on their website.

The Spring Music Series is another source of fantastic music weekends, taking place at center stage in Alpine Meadows at Squaw Valley, March 24 through April 22. Free to all, it is a great way to enjoy the end of ski season and the coming of warmer weather.
