A premier facility in the heart of the exclusive neighborhood of Tahoe Donner near downtown Truckee, offers over 60 miles of groomed trails perfect for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Explore picturesque routes through pine trees, conquer challenging peaks, or enjoy a leisurely glide along gentle rolling hills amidst aspens and expansive meadows in the Euer Valley. With 4,800 acres of terrain, 56 trails (including 4 dedicated to snowshoeing), and 3 track systems, there’s lots of space to go at your own pace, even during peak times. Additionally, you’ll find 5 warming huts conveniently scattered throughout!
Royal Gorge Cross Country Skiing & Snowshoeing
Located near the Soda Springs exit off I-80, the esteemed Royal Gorge boasts the largest private trail system in California. Now under the ownership of Sugar Bowl Resort, this expansive alpine ski area spans 6,000 acres of terrain and offers over 120 miles of trails, with 56 miles groomed and a dedicated skating lane within the tracks. Snowmaking capabilities, a fleet of snowcats, and surface lifts enhance the experience, particularly on steeper open areas. Complete with rental equipment, a ski school, ten warming huts, four cafes, and a diligent ski patrol, Royal Gorge is a great option for an incredible day out!
Tahoe Cross-Country Ski Area
Located just two miles east of Tahoe City, this non-profit ski foundation nestled within a scenic neighborhood offers remarkable vistas of Lake Tahoe from its trails. With 40 miles of meticulously groomed, dog-friendly skating lanes and tracks, this area provides ample space for skiers to enjoy amazing winter adventures! The ski foundation also features a convenient day lodge, a cozy cafe, and comprehensive services including lessons and equipment rentals. Guests over the age of 69 and under the age of 10 can ski for free, making it an inclusive destination for everyone!
Northstar-at-Tahoe Cross Country Ski & Snowshoe Center
Boasting over 30 miles of meticulously groomed and well-marked trails, this destination offers a superb cross-country skiing experience. Conveniently located near the day lodge and alpine area slopes, visitors can access the trails by taking the gondola or quad chairlift. The trails provide picturesque vistas of Lake Tahoe and the majestic surrounding mountain peaks, creating a truly captivating backdrop. Alpine ski area lift tickets can be used to access the cross-country ski trails as well, allowing visitors to explore both terrains.
