If you’re looking to make your upcoming Thanksgiving getaway unforgettable for you and your family, then look no further than incredible Lake Tahoe! Lake Tahoe is home to a number of amazing eateries and activities that will keep any family entertained for days on end, and if you’re looking for a few tips on how to keep your family entertained over the Thanksgiving holiday here are a few North Lake Tahoe activities worth checking out:

Enjoy World Class Dining Options for Thanksgiving Dinner

There are a number of amazing traditions that we celebrate every year on Thanksgiving, but if you’re like us nothing matches the amazing food! The roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, pumpkin pie… just talking about it is already getting our mouths watering! If you love Thanksgiving for the food as much as we do and you’re planning to vacation in Tahoe this upcoming holiday, you’re in luck – there are a number of world class restaurants that will be open and offering Thanksgiving dinner, including Granlibakken, Manzanita, Resort at Squaw Creek, and more!

Enjoy a Beautiful Hike Before the Snow Starts to Fall

Millions of people flock to the Lake Tahoe area in the wintertime to take advantage of the snow and hit the slopes, but in late November there usually isn’t enough snow on the ground for many of the resorts to open up just yet. This may sound like a negative, but you can use it to your advantage! This means that many of Tahoe’s amazing hiking trails and mountains are still available around Thanksgiving, and the light dustings in the surrounding mountains will provide you with some of the most spectacular views available. So if you’re looking to keep your family entertained (and burn off some of the calories of that Thanksgiving dinner while you’re at it), why not go for an amazing hike?

North Lake Tahoe Activities: Go Boating on the Lake

Now hold on, we know what you’re thinking: How can we go boating during the winter in a place that snows—doesn’t the lake freeze over? Well that’s one of the amazing things about Lake Tahoe: the answer is no! Because of the lake’s depth and incredible amount of water compared to its surface area, the lake stores enough heat that it won’t freeze during the wintertime! This gives you a unique opportunity to get out on the lake and see some of the amazing scenic sights all around Tahoe for yourself—just don’t forget to bundle up!

No matter how you plan on spending your Thanksgiving holiday, you truly can’t go wrong by spending it in Lake Tahoe, but where you can go wrong is by reserving a place to stay with the wrong property rental company. Echo Lakes Trail
Hikers of all ages and ability levels can find something to suit their tastes on the Echo Lakes Trail. If you’re looking for a quick hike, take a short walk to the far end of Upper Echo Lake. For longer hikes, continue on Echo Lakes Trail to visit popular destinations such as Lake Aloha (12 miles) or Lake of the Woods and Ropi Lake (13 miles). Trailhead: From South Lake take Highway 50 towards Echo Summit and turn onto Johnson Pass Road. Stay left until you reach the parking area at Lower Echo Lake.

White Cloud Falls
This mellow trail winds through an alpine forest and deposits hikers at the base of White Cloud Falls. Along the way when you are backpacking in Lake Tahoe expect views of Cascade Lake. Trailhead: From South Lake Tahoe, head north on CA-89 for 9.4 miles until you reach Bayview Campground. Follow the campground 0.3 miles until you find the trailhead.

Rubicon Trail
The Rubicon Trail treats hikers to breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe, with a terminus at a historic mansion with views of Emerald Bay. Trailhead: The Vikingsholm parking area is located approximately 9 miles north of South Lake Tahoe on CA-89. Our Lake Tahoe Beach Wedding!

Hi everyone, in this post I’m going to share our experience of one of the most important days of our lives, OUR WEDDING DAY!!!

We were fortunate enough to be able to have our dream wedding on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore, in Rubicon Bay, what an amazing day, Aug 10th 2013 turned out to be an warm and sunny day, as most days are in Lake Tahoe, meaning sunny, not so warm in the winter 🙂

The Lake Tahoe beach wedding took place at a private home on the lake with a private beach and a gorgeous view, we had our ceremony on the beach and the cocktail hour and reception at the same property, everyone had a wonderful time, including me, even though I only remember bits and pieces, my emotions got the better of me.

As with all weddings the planning part started month before the big day, I will list all the vendor we’ve used in case you’re planning a wedding at Lake Tahoe or know someone who does.

My gown came from David’s Bridal and my husband’s (still not used to the new title:) suite came from Men’s Warehouse. My bridesmaids wore dresses form Alfred Angelo (it’s the tuxedo style they have) and the groom’s men got their tuxes from Jos. A. Bank, I was only able to find teal at Alfred Angelo and Jos. A. Bank.

Flowers- I ordered flowers at Costco and me and one of my bridesmaids helped with the flowers, we’ve worked in a flower shop before so we decided it’ll be a fun project to tackle.

All the tables, chairs, linens, serving utensils… came from Event Masters, they have an office in Truckee and they deliver all over the Lake.

The cake came from Tahoe House Bakery, they did such an amazing job and the service we’ve received from Barbara and the stuff was great, I’ve tried to get a hold of a few places but none were so accommodating. Our cake was chocolate raspberry, very moist and delicious. When we went tasting we were going to get the chocolate mouse, after the tasting our mind has changed and we loved it.

The pictures were taken by a friend, here’s his website:

The days of the wedding we took pictures at the property, a week after we scheduled a boat ride on the lake and went to Emerald Bay, we hiked all the way to the top and took some pictures in the tea house.

I hope I didn’t miss anything, if you have questions please feel free to get in touch with me.
