Responsible Travel in North Lake Tahoe

Respectful Event Attendance: Follow all posted signs and instructions at events and take your trash with you or dispose of it in proper receptacles to keep the area clean.

Transportation: Choose to leave the car at home and use bikes or public transportation like TART Connect to reduce traffic congestion and ease your travel around event areas.

Pack Responsibly: Wherever you’re going this summer, be sure to bring essentials such as a hat, sunscreen, and a full, reusable water bottle. Stay hydrated and refill your water bottle often; you’ll find that most coffee shops are willing to fill it with tap water. Tahoe tap water is some of the cleanest in the world and is delicious.

Preparation: Check weather conditions, road alerts, and any county announcements before heading out for the day. You’ll be ready for any situation, including potential wildfire activity. Stay informed by visiting the Go Tahoe North weather report page for the weather forecast, traffic conditions, live road cams, air quality and more!

Wildlife Awareness: Avoid approaching or feeding wild animals. Be sure to practice “Bear Aware” habits by removing food from your car and securely storing all food items if you’re near wilderness areas. For more information about bears in North Lake Tahoe, click here

Community Involvement: Consider joining the annual Keep Tahoe Blue Beach Cleanup on July 5th. This event is a fantastic way to help maintain the lake’s clarity and protect local wildlife by removing litter from the beaches.
