No matter what time of year you choose to visit North Lake Tahoe, the area has plenty of events going on. During the fall, before ski season beings, the cool weather is ideal for hiking, biking, picnics, and running. Here are some of the Lake Tahoe upcoming events you should be sure to check out.
Truckee 25th Anniversary Picnic and Town Photo
On September 8, the town of Truckee will be celebrating 25 years since its incorporation and 155 years since Truckee was established as a town. The town will celebrate by hosting a free picnic at Donner Lake West End Beach. The picnic will have free food and music by local musicians, including Richard Blair, The Streets of Truckee, and the Berm Brothers.
Northstar Free Ride Festival
The Northstar Free Ride Festival is Lake Tahoe’s premier event for all cycling enthusiasts and their families. Interbike is hosting the event and will have bikes on site for people to use. The event features three days of bike races, trail rides, downhill races, and group yoga sessions. There will also be live music each day, a village wine walk on Friday night, and a village pub crawl on Saturday night. The Northstar Free-Ride Festival is a family-friendly event and will have plenty of activities for your kids, including mini golf, face painting, gem panning, roller skating, and bungee trampoline. The event is being held at the Northstar Resort from September 14 – 16. The product demos and expo access are free to the public. If you would like to participate in the bike races, lift tickets are available to purchase for one day or the whole weekend.
Lederhosen 5K
If you are looking for a festive trail run, then join the Lederhosen 5K. This Oktoberfest-themed run takes you along the Squaw Valley Trail. Awards will be given out at the end of the race at the post-race festivities for the best times, best lederhosen, and best dirndl. The race is being held on September 22 and starts at Village at Squaw. Registration for the race is $55 per person.
