There’s something about a family-owned restaurant that makes you feel like you are a part of the family. Maybe it’s the casual friendliness of the staff that makes you feel so welcome, or maybe it’s the way the food tastes as if it had been made by your own grandma. Whatever your reasons for feeling like family, Jake’s On the Lake Restaurant is one such family-owned restaurant that really does treat their guests like family! Serving Hawaiian inspired dishes every day of the week, this moderate to expensively priced restaurant is a local favorite that promises to become your favorite as well!
Located at 780 North Lake Boulevard
Built of wood and glass and situated on the banks of Lake Tahoe, Jake’s On the Lake has been a local hot spot for decades, and you know what that means: They are definitely doing it right! A large patio offers views of the lake that will take your breath away, but if the weather isn’t good, never fear; floor to ceiling windows allow guests to have the same views from the inside! A bar made of wood and bamboo maintains the casual Aloha feel so important in Hawaii, and the highly polished wood canoes that hang over the bar add to the experience. High ceilings with dark wood beams, chairs made of wicker and wood, and friendly wait staff all combine to make Jake’s a place you can call home—if you lived here full-time, that is!
And Then There’s the Food!
We can’t help it. If someone even mention’s the name Jake’s On the Lake in Tahoe, we start salivating immediately! A restaurant doesn’t stay open for decades if they fail at their main purpose of serving delicious food, and Jake’s is some of the best we have ever tasted! The appetizer menu offers mouthwatering Dungeness crab cakes, Warm Baked Brie, and other tempting starters. Their soups and salads are perfect. The Apple Walnut Salad, served with organic greens, candied walnuts, goat cheese, and a cranberry balsamic vinaigrette, is large enough to be a meal in itself! And finally, the entrees include seafood dishes such as Macadamia Nut Encrusted Halibut, and carnivore favorites such as Petite Filet and Bone Marrow. Jake’s On the Lake in Tahoe City never fails to please, and with a menu that changes with the season, you may find yourself returning to Tahoe in the spring just to sample their new choices!
