Father’s Day 2020 in North Lake Tahoe

As you tear off yet another page from your calendar, you may notice that Father’s Day is just a few days away, and during any ordinary year, you would probably head out to the store to pick up a card and a coffee mug. We all love our dads, but it can be difficult to pick a gift that suits him, and we get a little lazy. Ties, coffee mugs, and on occasion, a gift card to his favorite coffee shop is where our gift giving skills seem to stop—but this year is different. This is the year that your dad donned mask and gloves and traveled to six different stores to buy you toilet paper when you ran out. He climbed on your roof during a rain storm and tacked down the shingles that were blowing in the wind, and he took over teaching your children when schools closed and it was determined that you were an essential worker.

2020 has been a challenging year and as always, Dad faced the challenges with charm, smiles, and too many dad jokes, so how can you let a coffee mug with World’s Greatest Father be the way you show your appreciation, especially knowing his dream has always been a vacation to North Lake Tahoe and a stay in one of our luxurious Tahoe Signature Properties lakeside escapes? This should be the year you make his dreams come true and become the favored child! This guide to Lake Tahoe activities will make it easy to keep him entertained during his stay.

Hook, Line, and Sinker With These Lake Tahoe Activities

There’s nothing more relaxing than a lazy morning spent at water’s edge, and fly fishing on the Truckee River is guaranteed to help him make memories he will cherish forever! Hire a guide to take him to the hot spots (Truckee Guide Network makes it easy), or if he hasn’t tried fly fishing before, the Reel School of Fly Fishing offers a two-day course that will turn dad from novice to pro. In either case, you can accompany him or send him on his way with a cooler full of his favorite brews!

Fore!

Golf is the traditional first love of fathers from all over the world, and the choice of courses in the Lake Tahoe area are wonderful! From the Old Brockway Golf Course located in Kings Beach and designed by Scottish architect John Duncan Dunn to Coyote Moon Golf Course found in Truckee, which offers a scenic landscape that speaks to your soul, spending a summer day on the greens will be the highlight of his Father’s Day escape!

Start His Day Out the Right Way

Dad may be watching his cholesterol and sodium intake during every other day of the year but on Father’s Day, he deserves to eat whatever his heart desires! The Fire Sign Café, 1785 W. Lake Boulevard in Tahoe City, is our favorite place to visit when we are craving something hearty, and we believe your dad (or the dad in your life) will make it his own! Offering hearty omelets, blueberry pancakes that are light and fluffy, and a selection of pastries all made in-house, this special spot feeds your soul as it fills your stomach!

Cheers to Dad!

Day drinking may not be the traditional way to spend Father’s Day, but your dad is unique, and these hot spots will ensure a day full of fun! Whether he is playing darts in Pete n’ Peters Pub in Tahoe City, sipping one of 10 beers on tap while enjoying the sights and sounds of the lake at Steamer’s Beach Side Bar and Oven in Kings Beach, or simply soaking up the ambience of the historic spot in which Bar of America in Truckee is located, this will be the most fun he doesn’t remember!

Take a Hike

Even in the depths of summer, the temperatures in North Lake Tahoe stay in the high 70s (low 70s during June) with very little rain, which means that outdoor activities are as comfortable to perform as they are to enjoy. A good hike can be the best way to get out there and explore! The Eagle Falls Trail is one of our favorites, leading to a waterfall at the end of its path and offering views of the lake that never fail to take our breath away.

Relax and Enjoy

It’s not always necessary to leave the boundaries of your Tahoe Signature Properties, especially since the amenities we offer make it so much fun to stay home. Dad can sleep in late, enjoy the tasty donuts you picked up from Sugar Pine Cakery & Café, and spend some solitary and peaceful time in the hot tub! Every day during your Father’s Day journey to Lake Tahoe will be exciting and fun when you stay in one of our Tahoe Signature Properties holiday escapes. Reserve yours today!
