plenty of free lake tahoe activities on your next vacation

Vacation time is our most favorite time of the year, and if you’re anything like us, we bet you feel the same way and would take a vacation every month, if at all possible! Of course, we all have jobs and responsibilities, and if we tried to get away every month, we wouldn’t have those jobs to pay for the responsibilities or the vacations! Besides, even with a once or twice a year break, it still can be difficult to finance trips away—unless you are renting one of our Tahoe Signature Properties, that is! Offering reasonable prices and innumerable vacationing tips, (including this article about free Lake Tahoe activities!), you are guaranteed a fun and exciting time during your once in a lifetime visit to Tahoe!

Kings Beach Recreation Area

While many activities come at a cost, enjoying the beauty of nature in Tahoe is ALWAYS free, with Kings Beach Recreation Area being one of our favorites spots to do so. Walking along the water’s edge hand in hand with your favorite traveling companion and watching the sun set over the lake in a fiery ball of color is an experience you won’t soon forget!

Donner Memorial State Park and Emigrant Trail Museum

Commemoratinga sad time in Tahoe’s history, this state park and museum offers insight to the trials and tribulations faced by early settlers in the area. Costing nothing, visitors can spend a few hours or more hiking through the park and a couple of hours more in the museum, which in addition to the Donner Party information, also has exhibits exploring the history of the completion of railroads in the area. Find this attraction at 12593 Donner Pass Road in Truckee.

Rock Climbing on the 90 Foot Wall

Your Tahoe vacation is supposed to be an adventure, and what’s more adventurous than precariously hanging from the side of a cliff? To be perfectly honest, most of us probably would never even attempt anything more dangerous than the rock climbing wall at our local children’s gym, but we do know that our guests are far braver and more daring than we could ever be! And for those daring souls, the 90-footwall located in Eagle Creek Canyon offers breathtaking views and a variety of moderate to difficult climbs for the intermediate climbers.
