There are plenty of ski resorts surrounding the lake to keep even the most prolific skier busy for weeks, with slopes and trails over a range of skill levels, for the budding beginning bunny slope-rider to the expert Olympian of your group.
Coldstream Adventures offers some of the most exhilarating snowmobile tours around, and anyone in your group will be able to ride along easily. There’s nothing that can compare to zipping around the snow-covered Lake Tahoe area, especially with a knowledgeable tour guide leading the way. This is a great way to forge unforgettable memories and cap off the end of your year.
Snowshoeing the many nearby hiking trails is fun for the whole family, and an easy way to take in majestic views from all sides on New Years in North Lake Tahoe. Be sure to start a surprise snowball fight when they least expect it!
If you’re the type who prefers to stay on level ground, head on over to one of the two outdoor ice-skating rinks around the lake, where you can skate for a day, or just a few hours. Although with the quaint shopping and eateries nearby, and fireplaces there to put your feet up, it’ll be hard to leave.
That said, when you do head back, you’ll be comforted by the fact that you have a warm, plush bed to return to at your vacation rental, and all the features and amenities that will ensure it truly feels like a home away from home. No roughin’ it required this New Year’s Eve – kick back with the family and do your countdown to midnight from the solitude of your winter retreat, perhaps with a light snow gently falling outside the window, and nature quiet and peaceful. Ah, now that’s relaxation.
