lake tahoe shows

When contemporary dance is your passion, head over to Gatekeeper’s Museum in Tahoe City because that’s where the Lake Tahoe Dance Festival will unfold. It’s one of Tahoe’s undiscovered cultural gems where elegance and precision creates a sublime picture of shifting shapes in front of your eyes. The three-day event features performances by some of the leading dance groups in California. And while Gatekeeper’s Museum will host the first two days of the festival, the last day will be held at West End Beach on Donner Lake in Truckee.

Lake Tahoe Dance Festival History

For years, the Lake Tahoe Dance Collective, one of the top Lake Tahoe shows, has been performing in the Lake Tahoe area, promoting classical and modern dance. This mission is achieved by performing, educating, and reaching out to young talent. For many people, their idea of dancing doesn’t go beyond what they see in music videos, which makes the festival’s mission all the more important. By inviting some of the great names in the dance world, the viewers are treated to a quality evening of high-class dance experience. Over the years, names like Traci Finch, Kristina Berger, Ashley Bouder, Stephen Hanna, Robert Moses Kin, and Kristin Draucker have graced the stage with their presence and sheer talent. And thanks to the contributions of longtime collaborators Christin Hanna and Constantine Baecher, the festival has been steadily gaining popularity and making a mark on the Tahoe cultural scene. They both met in New York City where they were attending the summer program of American Ballet Theatre and then brought their collective talents to the Lake Tahoe Dance Collective.

Young Dancers Workshop

As part of the group’s mission, the Young Dancers Workshop is a program that aims to educate the young talent. The three-week workshop takes place in Lake Tahoe between Monday, July 8th and Friday, July 26th, 2019. It opens its doors to dancers 10 years old and above. During the three-week period, they get to work with, learn from, and study the technique and repertoire of the teachers and collaborators who later perform during the dance festival. And while some of the classes help young dancers still trying to find their footing, much of the workshop’s focus is on refining, enhancing, and promoting the growth of the skills of the participants.
