The Bar of America has been around even longer. Its menu offers an original take on traditional bar food and has clever names for the dishes, such as Salmon Summit and The America’s Gone Bananas dessert which is an American take on Bananas Foster.

Tours

Truckee plays a critical part in the history of the old west. Truckee Historic Walking Tour tells participants the story of the building of the railroads, the unusual practice of ice harvesting and the time Charlie Chaplin came to town to make his comedy classic, “Gold Rush.”

This tour in Historic Downtown Truckee is free and requires less than a mile of walking. In addition to the places you will see, you will hear stories and fables about the town and the colorful characters who make up its history.
The Ghost Tour takes participants to six different locations, where fully costumed actors will tell tales of the seamier and more spirited side of Truckee.
