There are a variety of reasons you may want to think about preparing some meals in your Tahoe Signature Properties vacation escape during your unforgettable journey in North Lake Tahoe. The kitchen is there for your use, so why not take advantage of it? Easy options for healthy meals, saving money, and a love of cooking are a few great reasons to cook up your own meals on vacation. In any case, just because you want or need to cook, it doesn’t mean you have to spend all your time in the kitchen; these three simple recipes to try out during your stay in Tahoe will have you in and out and enjoying a hearty meal or dessert in just minutes!
5-Ingredient Easy Chili
It can get cold in Lake Tahoe in the winter, and the best way to counteract the chill is with a hearty bowl of chili! This simple recipe only requires five items to be added to your Safeway shopping list: 1 pound ground beef (or turkey if you want to keep it on the lighter side), 1 small onion (diced), 3 15-ounce cans of diced tomatoes with green chiles, 2 15-ounce cans of drained beans (kidney, black beans, or one of each for a tasty combo!), and 2 tablespoons of chili powder. You might want to add cheese, green onions, or sour cream to top this tasty stew or some crackers to accompany it as well. Brown the ground meat, sauté the diced onions, and then combine all ingredients in a big stock pot and simmer for about 30 minutes.
Tater Tot Meatball Foil Packet Meals
This quick and easy meal is guaranteed to be a hit with your family, even if it’s not the healthiest meal you make this week! Your shopping list will have the following ingredients added to it: 24-ounce frozen meatballs, 16-ounce frozen mixed vegetables, 32 ounces of frozen tater tots, 2 teaspoons of seasoned salt, and 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese. You also need aluminum foil for this recipe, so if you can’t find any in the pantry of your vacation rental, be sure to add it to the list! Preheat oven to 350 degrees, mix all ingredients together and divide between eight 8” by 12” pieces of aluminum foil that have been sprayed with nonstick spray in advance. Fold the foil (heavy duty is best; you can also use two sheets for each meal) into packets and bake for 30 minutes.
3-Ingredient Hazelnut Brownies
Every vacationer deserves an ooey, gooey, chocolatey treat, and these simple brownies will please everyone who tastes them! Adding to your grocery list one 13-ounce jar of hazelnut spread, 2 eggs, and ½ cup of flour, you’re going to preheat your oven to 350 degrees, mix all three ingredients together, and pour them into a pre-greased square baking dish. Bake for 15 minutes, try to force yourself to let the brownies cool for 5 minutes, then dig in! This treat is one you can make over and over and over throughout the year, even when you are back home in your own kitchen!
