Hiking or Backpacking the Angora Lakes Trail

Another trail we want to highlight is the Angora Lakes Trail, a beautiful and easy hike that ends up in an even more beautiful area. Spending your vacation hours here will be one of the better choices you make during your stay in Tahoe. Best accessed from March through September, this trail is a popular one with locals and visitors from all over the world, so if you’re looking for a little solitude, this might not be the trail for you!

Family Friendly

Lasting only 1.2 miles roundtrip, this easy trail is perfect for families with kids. The short length of the overall hike will make it easy for the kids to keep up, and most likely dad will not have to carry anyone piggy back, which is always a plus in our books! If you’re staying in a Tahoe Signature Properties pet friendly rental, this is also a good trail to bring your fur baby on; just make sure he stays on a leash and that someone in the family is careful to pick up after him! Popular not just with hikers, runners often use this easy trail to keep in shape, and nature lovers of all ages frequently take to this trail for an afternoon of appreciation of the flora, fauna, and wildlife that can be found along the way.

The best part of the Angora Lakes Trail, in our humble opinions, are the two Angora Lakes found along the way. Surrounded by rocky cliffs and tall evergreens, they are a perfect spot to have a picnic, drop a line, or to let your kids dog paddle around in to cool off after the first part of the hike. The chilly waters feel good against overheated skin, and the views from the Angora Lakes will temporarily make you forget about any hiking aches and pains you may be feeling at the moment!

Not completely isolated, you will find places to buy a popsicle or even rent a rowboat for more fun in the sun. And although it is possible to drive back to the lakes, we’re wondering why anyone would do that and risk missing out on the photo ops along the way!
