Truckee and North Lake Tahoe offers a variety of family and children friendly activities in the Summer. This post will be focusing on a Truckee summer experience. Please stay tuned for our follow up post with the North Lake area information.
Summer Activities
Music in the Park. Amphitheater located at the Truckee Regional Park in central Truckee, local artists perform while locals and visitors alike enjoy tunes, food, family and friends on the large lush grass area. Every Wednesday 6:30-8:00pm, through August 26.
There is also a Skate Park located at the Regional Park, open dawn to dusk to all.
Truckee Rodeo will be taking place right next door to the Regional Park as well, August 22-23rd.
Truckee Thursdays. Downtown is momentarily shutdown for an evening of local fun! Offering Live Music, Farmer’s Market, Street Fair, Kids Area and even a Beer Garden for the adults. Every Thursday 5:00-8:30pm, through August 20.
Donner Lake West End. Spend a day at the lake enjoying West End’s numerous Amenities. Including, but not limited to: Family Picnic Areas, Basketball Courts, Tennis Court, Sand & Grass Volleyball Courts, Playground Areas, Horseshoe Pits, Kayak & Paddleboat Rentals, Swimming Area, Fishing Area & Concession Stand. Daily Admission or Season Passes available.
KidZone Museum. A local non-profit children’s museum featuring a number of exhibits all meant to help your child learn, play and connect in the most innovative of ways.
Northstar Resort. The resort offers plenty of activities for all ages. Roller skating, gem panning, a bungee trampoline, rock wall, miniature golf, a movie theatre, pottery painting and candle making are available in the Village at Northstar and located among the many mountain biking trails for bikers of all skill levels. The following activities can also be enjoyed on varying days/nights: Live Music in the Village, Tahoe Star Tours at the Ritz-Carlton, Retro Skate Nights and Night Glow Golf Tournaments.
